Honest in nature, Raider is a mild and pleasant character who really makes the jobs of Windsor staff very easy. A relatively easy-going sort of dude, Raider has a reputation as a horse you can always count on to remain constant in his mood and work - which of course, makes training and riding him all the more breezy. He's a horse who you can really knuckle-down and get to work with, without worrying about the fuss of temper-challenges or things of the likes. He's well-rounded and sound in mind, and for these reasons is among the most revered of his crop. As with any young colt, he can become a little pushy when his patience finally gives way; standing around for grooming can become a little dull at times for an athlete in his prime, or sometimes it's just brought about by a handler who seems like a bit of a push-over. However, true to his nature he is easily corrected when reminded of his manners and won't continue to test the authority if it comes with confidence. During turn-out, he's not particularly interested in ruling-the-roost, and much prefers to spend his time frolicking with like-minded colts and enjoying the finer things in life - like the raw goodness of mud and grass.
In similar proportion with his personality in the barn, Raider is an easy ride and doesn't need a jockey with experience to show how he can shine on the track. Built to last, this kid's physique is as durable as his temperament and it makes for an impressive combination in a talented distance runner. Loading with ease, you can guarantee this colt will make the most of his break no matter what barrier he draws; unfazed by change in routine or unforeseen challenges, Raider is as cool in his gallop as he is on home turf. All that's required in his jockey is that they set him up where he works best; somewhere comfortable in the mid-pack, and from there Raider will move through his gears like clockwork. Without much urging needed, he benefits from a rider with patience who knows his style, and though a little persuasion to really get moving in the last few furlongs never goes astray, Raider will typically ease up towards the front runners and make an impressive finishing sprint as the wire draws near. |
